************WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD***********

Aspros is a character from the ova / manga series Saint Seiya: The Lost Canvas. He was the original gemini gold saint. He and his younger twin, Defteros lived in the sanctuary in Greece from an early age, as it was decided Aspros would become the next gemini saint. Defteros, however, born under the star of chaos was believed to be an unwanted presence and was forced to hide his face from the sanctuary. Defteros was not allowed to see a saint train, but as Aspros cosmo and ability grew, so did Defteros. Aspros and Defteros were considered identical in ability, power, and appearance (aside from Defteros tan).

Once Aspros achieved the title of Gemini gold saint, he decided to aim higher. He aimed to become the next Pope, with the mindset of freeing Defteros from his mask and his shunned status. But upon hearing the (false) rumor that the Pope had picked Sagittarius Sisyphus to succeed him, Aspros made off to the Popes private chambers in search of a reason as to why he was not picked. Upon being approached by Defteros, Aspros uses the demon emperor fist to control his younger twin and force him to murder the pope. It is then revealed that Aspros had in fact, wanted to become Pope so that the world would acknowledge him.

After Defteros failed attack towards the Pope, Aspros appears claiming he should be the one to punish his younger brother. Aspros then attempted to attack the Pope while he turned away, this however, failed with the appearance of Virgo Asmita. The fight then splits in two, Asmita freeing Defteros mind from Aspros' control, while Aspros roughs up the Pope. Upon Defteros return, Aspros commands him to kill the Pope. Seeming to do so, Defteros raises his fist, but instead, mortally wounds Aspros.

Aspros, dumbfounded by his brothers betrayal realizes that Asmita had been the one to free Defteros from his control. In a cruel twist of fate, it turned out that Aspros had in fact been the Popes chosen successor. The Pope had sensed a darkness in Aspros' heart and had set the rumor in place as a test for Aspros, which he failed. Aspros laughs, the irony too much. He then swears to take the Popes throne from beyond the grave, and commits suicide.

Aspros holds true to his promise. He approaches Hades in the underworld and swears loyalty to him in exchange for the life of a specter. Aspros is now a part of Hades army. He is seen again donning fake Pope robes, speaking to the former Popes picture in the lost canvas. Aspros and Defteros then reunite after many years, except now it is Defteros who is the Gemini Gold saint. The two exchange blows, but the battle ends with Defteros being victorious, but in an unlikely way. With his final attack, Defteros had rid Aspros heart of all it's evil, and given the rest of his life to him.

Aspros seemingly brushes this off, and returns to report to Hades. Aspros then launches an attack at Hades. Hades, remarking at how ungrateful Aspros was after being brought back by him, attempts to send Aspros back to the underworld. This fails, however because now Defteros life burned within Aspros, which means his life was no longer under Hades control. Aspros then attempts to attack Hades again, but is stopped by the appearance of Mephistopheles Youma. Youma, recognizing Aspros then explains that he had visited the santuary when Aspros and Defteros were young. As it turns out, Aspros and Defteros rivalry had been just that. A sibling rivalry, but Youma during his visit planted the seed of darkeness within Aspros heart, causing the evil to grow within him. Enrage at this revelation, Aspros attempts to attack Youma, but is ultimately dissolved into quantum particles.

That is Aspros story in a nutshell, obviously some things were left out. I personally don't think that Aspros is gone for good, but you never really know. I'll be sure to update if he does come back.
